The month started with the European Short Course Championships in Istanbul. After Novembers racing i had been feeling pretty good coming into the competition but unfortunately managed not only to pick up a shoulder injury, but a chest infection too which would require antibiotics. The shoulder was strapped back into place for the next 10 days and with regular physio healed quickly. Needless to say the Championships didn't go quite to plan but a final and a British Record in the 4x50 medley was the best result i had there. After coming back i then spent the next 3 days either in bed or in seeing my doctor and physio. I had planned to race in the Plymouth Leander meet the weekend after Europeans so i had an easy 500m swim on thursday and friday to see how i was feeling. I decided to withdraw from the 100m breaststroke on the Saturday due to still having breathing problems related to my chest infection but race on the Sunday in the 50m breaststroke. I broke the BRITISH RECORD and swam a time of 27.44, it was a great way to finish the year on and i can not wait for next year to start.

Congratulations to Ellesmere College Titans for placing 3rd in the Northwest Speedo Minor League only 9 months after setting up as a club. Its been great fun and very rewarding working with the team and its great to see so many best times over the last few weeks.
Oct-Nov:
I am now back in Bath and have picked back up my university degree though i am a few weeks behind so will have a bit of catching up to do. I am also back in training and getting some good metres done. Bath has a new coach who is from a middle distance background but its just what i need right now as its getting me fit again.
Aug-sept:
I have been travelling about a bit training with different teams. Its been great as every coach is different and it has been very interesting seeing how different clubs work. Even though its been a bit hectic with alot of travelling it has been an interesting way to get back into training.
June-Aug:
I have been up to work Ellesmere Titans recently and had a great few days working with a hugely motivated club with a very talented group of swimmers. I'm really looking forward to the next time I go up to see if the swimmers have remembered what I taught them!!!
Last week I took five 1 hour "Swimming Master Classes" at West Wight Swimming pool. With up to 24 kids in each session I thought they might have been a bit of a handful... but they were great. Its great when you can have some banter with the swimmers your teaching and yet they still listen when you ask them to do something. We have more Master Classes planned for the end of August.
May:
I'm just relaxing at the moment and playing with a little with swimming. I have had meets in "fantastic" Iceland and "fun" Croatia. Apart from doing a little swimming I have had chance to surf, play golf and mountain bike, good times!!
At the moment I'm loving the cross training even though I'm not in the pool as much all the different sports are keeping me pretty fit, next thing up is spear fishing!!! I did quite alot in Florida when i was training over there but then the water was pretty clear, should be fun anyway.
Mar-Apr:
Olympic Trails and World Short Course where a disaster. I felt a huge relief when they where over and I could take a break from swimming and spend some time in the UK with family.
Jan-Mar:
It was a tough start to the year, I had to take a bit of time out the pool with blood poisoning which I picked up through an infection in my foot. February was a very tough time for my family which took its toll and emotionally exhausting. I struggled a bit in March picking up a little Flu probably due to stress.
